Adventurer aims to be first around the world in a gyrocopter

An adventure sportsman is to attempt to fly an autogyro around the world to achieve a FAI "First Absolute World Record".  The details of this 27,000 mile journey, which will involve stop offs in 24 countries, are announced today at Imperial War Museum Duxford (IWM Duxford) near Cambridge England.  With the pilot open to the elements, this endeavor combines danger, adventure and a compelling story about the pilot – entrepreneur and cancer survivor.  Departing the UK in late March the pilot also intends to raise awareness and funding for cancer.

This expedition is seen as the last great aviation challenge as this quirky little type of aircraft is the only one yet to achieve the distinction of circumnavigating the globe. It is expected to take approximately 115 days or four months.
